STYLING THE FUTURE COLLECTIVE COAT

Kahlana Barfield Brown, someone I’ve talked about on here before, is one of my favorite style icons. The way she puts pieces together is so funky and fresh, and I hope to have an ounce of style that she has in her pinky finger. Kahlana created a collection for Target – two of my favorite things is a match made in heaven – called the Future Collective. Not one to pass up a Target designer collaboration (see here and here), I knew that I needed something from this collection in my closet. Unfortunately for me, I was only able to snag this Future Collective coat because everything sold out so quickly.

As I shared previously, I’m in the process of rebuilding my basics. So, when I saw this plaid, neutral color coat, it fit the criteria for what I’m looking for, and felt a little less guilty for buying it. I’ve worn it out a few times and received nothing but compliments. Because it’s a neutral color pattern, it goes with just about anything.

IS IT WARM?

The weather hasn’t been that cold enough for me, since I purchased this coat, to test how well it’ll hold up in the colder. However, based on the weight of the coat, I don’t think it’ll be enough to withstand Ohio winters without lots of layers. It’s a great fall coat for the cooler temps, like 40s, but not enough for the 30-degree weather.

HOW TO STYLE THIS COAT

While the Future Collective coat can be worn with anything, I decided to style it with a more casual but edgy look. I added a graphic tee, jeans, and my Schutz booties with my favorite lip, Mac’s Cavier. This look is great for brunch or casual lunch/dinner plans with friends.
