5 SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

It’s Memorial Day which signals the unofficial start of summer. While we still have a few more weeks of spring, the weather here in Cincinnati is inching closer and closer to summer. To prepare my closet for summer, these are my 5 summer wardrobe essentials to guide my outfits during the summer months.

5 SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

SUMMER DRESS

A summer dress is the perfect and staple item for your summer wardrobe essentials. I prefer to wear sundresses in the summer because it’s super easy to throw on and look put together. You can dress it up with heels (like I’ve done here) or dress it down with sneakers. The key to making the sundress work for you is to ensure they are lightweight, flowy, and breathable.

SUNGLASSES

Sunglass are good for any time of the year but especially in summer. It’s great for protecting your eyes from the sun’s UV rays while also being fashionable. I especially love a fun pair with a funky shape during summer. Make sure your sunnies work well with your face shape.

STRAW HAT

Y’all know I love me a good straw hat. This is the quintessential summer wardrobe essential. Straw hats pull double duty by keeping the sun outta your eyes while also looking fashionable.

WHITE TSHIRT

A white shirt is a year round staple but really easy to wear in the summertime. The white shirt can be dressed up or down. I always reach for a soft cotton shirt that feels great on my skin and also breathable fabric.

SANDALS

Sandals are a great shoe for summer to let your feet breathe and show off those pedicures you finally got after hibernating all winter. One of my favorite comfortable sandals to reach for is Tevas – see my review here. Wedge sandals are also a good option when you want to dress up and add height to your look.
