WHY A WHITE T-SHIRT IS PERFECT FOR WORK

A few years ago, pre-panacea, wearing a white t-shirt for work was not as commonplace as it is now. It was quite a rebellious act for those of us that did not work in creative environments. I’m so happy that that’s not the order of the day. Styling a white t-shirt for work is perfect because they are incredibly versatile. White t-shirts are a timeless staple so of course it makes sense to incorporate them for work. The other reason I love this item for work is that it’s easy to style – it literally goes with everything – while keeping you looking approachable yet stylish.

This Target shirt currently has me in a chokehold. It’s soft, at a great price, and has the perfect neckline. It also comes in multiple colors. Though I typically tend to stock up on all the neutrals – whites, blacks, navys, tans, and greys. Any plain shirt you see me in is likely this one.

3 TIPS FOR WEARING A WHITE T-SHIRT FOR WORK

FINDING THE RIGHT NECKLINE IS THE KEY

The key to finding the right white t-shirt for work is the neckline. I’m more partial to v-necks and crew necks when it comes to white shirts. For work, however, I tend to reach for crew necks – this is the shirts with the round, collarless neckline. This allows me to have the option to pair statement necklaces without working about how it looks with a v-neck. Also, since crewnecks are a higher neckline, there are no slips of anything that doesn’t need to be seen.

TUCK IT IN

There’s something about tucking in a white shirt with anything high waist. Since that’s all I typically wear these days, especially at work, I’m always tucking in my shirt. This provides a more polished appearance. Even if you’re not sold on the high waist pants, tucking in your shirt fully or partially tucked just the front, will always be the move for work.

ADD A BLAZER

A blazer pulls everything together, especially for work. To finshi your work look, adding a tailored blazer transforms your plain white t-shirt that Add a layer of sophistication by pairing your white t-shirt with a tailored blazer or a cardigan. This instantly transforms the outfit into a more professional and put-together ensemble.
