We skipped right past spring and into summer. In addition to the warmer weather, cute dresses, and shorts, I love adding a straw hat to tie everything together. In my mind, adding a straw hat to a look accomplishes two things – a cute accessory and protection from the sun. Straw hats are more prominently seen in the summer because these hats are lightweight and breathable compared to wool hats. I bought mine from Lack of Color last year, and it’s definitely a purchase that I’m really happy with and recommend splurging to get a quality product that will last. OUTFIT WITH STRAW HAT: A MATCHING SET
Who doesn’t love a good matching set for the summer? To me, this is the easiest way to add a straw hat because all you have to do is add the hat since the look is already done for you. The rest of the look – the beads, the orange Zara set, kimono, and sandals – adds to the summery vibes that I was looking for, including the color palette.
AFRICAN PRINT
Everything looks good with African print. And if you don’t think so, we need to have a come to Jesus moment. Whenever I think of African print, I think of summers when I would run around the house in maxi and midi dresses in African print. So, it is no surprise that this hat is the perfect addition to my summer African print wardrobe.
A MAXI SKIRT
Maxi skirts always remind me of the beach with the wind blowing. So, it feels weird whenever I’m wearing a maxi skirt without a straw hat. I think this is the quintessential look for the summer. A flowy maxi skirt to stay cool on those hot and humid days and a straw hat to keep you shaded from the sun.
A CROP TOP
While crop tops can be worn year round, they are more commonly seen during the warmer months. I think crop tops and straw hats are a match made in heaven for making an effortless, but cool look for the summer.
