STYLING A SLIP DRESS FOR WINTER

Admittedly, I’m a little late to the slip dress party, but not because I didn’t want to join. All the slip dresses that were popular were boring to me. I couldn’t find one that I truly liked so I didn’t want to waste my money on yet another item in my closet that’s I’m gonna wear once and forget it. So, when I found this snake print slip dress at TJ Maxx, I knew it was meant for my closet. Because it’s still winter and extremely cold outside, I’m sharing how you can style the slip dress in your closet for winter.

I would consider a slip dress a good staple for your closet because you can wear it every season, and it can be styled in so many different and creative ways. I recently styled it as a shirt for a Christmas party.

LAYERS

The most important tip to style a slip dress for winter is with layers. The fabric of the dress is thin and made for warmer temperatures. Adding thicker fabrics to the dress will help keep you warm. As you see here, the dress is layered with a turtleneck, over-the-knee boots, and a coat.

I opted for over-the-knee boots because the dress has slits on each side of the dress. When the temperatures drop before 40 I want to make sure I’m staying warm. While I didn’t have on tights underneath, if I were going to be outside, I would’ve added the extra layer to ensure my legs don’t freeze.

I’m so happy I found a dress that I like and can’t wait to style it again when the temperatures warm up. I’m still on the hunt for more slip dresses that I can add to my wardrobe.
