It should be no surprise that I’m making an argument for high waist, aka high rise pants. Since I realized how wonderful they are, they are the only types of pants I buy. They have been prominently featured on my blog – see here. Even though the 90s style is a big trend, especially with Gen Z, I do not want to return to hip huggers. Just thinking about those pants gives me anxiety. So, today, I wanted to share why your pants should be high waist.
WHAT ARE HIGH WAIST PANTS
Any pants labeled as high waist means that the waistband cinches at the smallest part of your natural waist, the area right above your belly button. Mid rise, however, is pants that sit mid way between your hips and your belly button. High rise pants, like many fashion trends, are cyclic. But, in my opinion, because they are so flattering, they never really go out of style. It’s a style staple that your closet will thank you for years.
WHY YOUR PANTS SHOULD BE HIGH WAIST
HIDES YOUR STOMACH
Whatever size you are, we all have insecurities about our stomachs. Whether it’s not small enough, it’s not a six pack, scars, discoloration, etc. Because these pants cinch you at the smallest part of your natural waist, it hides your stomach. Another great thing about high rise pants is you can wear any top with them, especially crop tops. If you have wanted to try wearing crop tops, these pants are perfect for doing so.
ELONGATES YOUR LEGS
We already know that I give off tall energy. The reason for that is I like to wear anything with a heel and high waist pants. High rise pants elongate your legs, making you look slimmer. I’ve always found that this is especially true when I add a heel to the look.
FLATTERING ON EVERY BODY TYPE
I haven’t seen anyone that wears high waist pants not look good. It’s impossible. High rise pants give you the silhouette of an hourglass shape that gives you a fuller bust and hip line. Another benefit with this rise is that you don’t have to constantly pull these pants up or worry about any tragic accidents (I’m looking at your hip huggers). They also come in various styles, making it easy to match your style needs.
