#CURRENTLYCANCAN VOL 12

This month felt like it crawled by. With me still adjusting to the violence that is daylight savings, it’s just been a tough month overall. Also, my sleeping pattern is completely jacked up making me so sluggish through the day. But the good news is, March is almost over and spring is officially here. So, I can’t complain too much! Anyways, let’s get into what happened with me this month!

01. COVID VACCINATION

I’m fully vaccinated! And I honestly don’t know what to do with myself! My two week period post-second dose was yesterday so it’s official, official. A misconception of the vaccine is that it’s a cure. It’s not. Like the flu vaccine, you can still get COVID. It just minimizes the effects of the virus if caught. Even though I’m vaccinated, I’ll still be double masking for the foreseeable future.

02. GIRL, THAT AIN’T IT

For the past 3 months, I’ve been consumed with finding a curtain rod that will work in my room. I have no real excuses why it’s taken me so long to find the right curtain rod — let’s just call it buyer error. ? I’m sad to say that it took me four attempts to finally get my curtains up. ??‍♀️

Attempt #1 –  So, I found the perfect blackout curtains and ordered a curtain rod to go with them. I incorrectly measured the length of my window and ordered the wrong size curtain rod. My window is 60″ but the curtain rod I bought goes up to 48″. ? I’m thinking I misread the lenth of the rod and that’s why it was the wrong length.

Attempt #2 – I bought the correct size curtain rod but I purchased the wrong type. ?Because it was the wrong type of curtain rod, it wouldn’t stay up. There were multiple nights where I was violently awakened out of my sleep to find that my curtain rod had fallen.

Attempt #3 – When I moved in, my landlord left a couple of home items that I could use in my apartment. I put the items that I didn’t need in the basement — including a curtain rod. This time, I checked the length of the rod to make sure it would fit on my window. The only thing I needed to do is buy screws to hang it up. So, back to Amazon, I went to order what I needed. I got the screws and hung up the curtain only to find that the rod was broken. Sigh. Don’t ask me why I didn’t check the rod before I purchased the screws.

Attempt #4 – I ordered this rod on the 12th – on Amazon prime by the way – and didn’t get it until yesterday. It’s only fitting that this saga ends with me getting the rod almost 2 weeks after I purchased it. ? I hung up the curtains last night and I’m happy to report that there are no issues with this rod. But, given my track record, only time will tell.

03. STEVEN UNIVERSE – THE CUTEST PALATE CLEANSER

I recently started watching Steven Universe and it’s just the cutest thing ever! I needed a palate cleanser because I’ve been consuming lots of shows about death, police violence, and racial inequality and I just needed a change of pace. It’s a Cartoon Network show that I stumbled upon on Hulu and I’m glad that I did. I highly recommend it for those who need a change of pace with their streaming.

04. FOR REAL THIS TIME

Next month, I’ll begin my quest to read 25 books this year. I had every intention to start this quarter but life has dictated differently. Now that it’s warmer outside, I am more motivated to spend the evenings outside and would prefer to read while I’m there too. Feel free to leave some book recommendations in the comments below. I have way too many books on my shelf that I have yet to read so I’m starting with those first. The first book I’ll be starting is Never Split The Difference
