READING GOAL FOR 2021

So, I’ve been talking about this goal for a while now but haven’t written a post about it. Like I did for my natural hair and running goals, I wanted to layout my reading goal for the year and my approach for achieving this goal. Even though this post maybe a little late, I haven’t had a chance to start before now. It’s a perfect time since I’m starting this month!

WHY 25 BOOKS?

25 books is an attainable goal for me right now. With everything that I currently have on my plate, it makes sense to be a bit conservative with this estimate. Plus if I read more than 25 books, it’ll just be a pat on the back for me. I decided to create a reading goal because I have been watching way too much tv since the start of the pandemic. Now that I’m fully vaccinated and the weather is getting nice, I’m trying to force myself to turn off the tv and get outside. What better way to enjoy the weather than reading outside?

HOW I WILL ACHIEVE THIS GOAL

In order to achieve this goal, it’s going to require me to read approximately 2-3 books a month. Right now, I think this an achievable task for me. I am naturally a fast reader. And if it’s a book that I am completely engaged with, I can read it in a day. Given my schedule, though, I don’t think I’ll be finishing any books in a day.

READING LIST

Another reason I wanted to create a reading goal is that I have wayy too many books on my shelf that I haven’t read yet. And the problem is, I keep buying books! While I don’t have a list of 25 books per se, I do have 17 books – including Michelle Obama’s book that I got for Christmas 3 years ago ? – on my shelf waiting to be read. So, I’ve put myself on timeout and I’m not allowed to purchase any more books until I read all 17! Lol. So, the first 5 books that I’m pulling from my shelf is: Never Split The Difference, On the Jellicoe Road, An Ideal Husband, Becoming, and Gathering Blue.
