WE NEED MORE LOVE

Hey, y’all! This week has been another tough week in America and honestly, I’m sick of it. I’m tired of the killings, I’m tired of the hate speech, I’m tired of the illegal immigrant rhetoric (there is no such thing as an illegal person), and I’m just tired of being sick and tired.

I was talking to a friend this week and we were talking about love and how if we all really loved and respected each other, a lot of things that occur in this world would not happen. It got me thinking about how I treat people. I always try to treat everyone with respect. But I realized that sometimes I don’t treat people with the love they deserve.

When I speak of love, I’m speaking of agape love, or love that is an unselfish concern for the welfare of others. This type of love doesn’t require judgment rather a love that is empathetic. I have decided that I will be more intentional about giving agape to everyone even if it’s not returned.

I believe that operating under this assumption will make me feel less depressed about what is currently going on. This way I will do everything that I can to change the little that I can. Because at the end of the day, we can’t control how people act but only how we react.

I hope that you are able to practice some self-care this weekend and disconnect from the overload of what’s happening in the news.
