I know, I know. Pastels, like florals, for Spring are not groundbreaking. Honestly, while I like to wear pastels all year, I prefer them in the fall and winter months. It’s because the color palette is more unexpected because it’s grey outside. Back to spring, I love Spring because it signals new beginnings – new blooms, the sun’s out longer, and we’re moving into warmer weather. With the new blooms, comes more color which makes me want to emulate those colors. There’s no right or wrong to style pastels but whenever I reach for those colors, I stick to these tips.

A MONOCHROME LOOK
Monochrome is an easy way to style pastels. Honestly, it’s my best recommendation for anyone who are not color fans and wants to add more color to their wardrobe. Buying pieces of the same color makes it a no brainer when styling them together. Like this look, the sweater and skirt are great together but would also be great styled separately.
STYLE WITH NEUTRALS
Okay, maybe a monochrome look is a little too much color for you to start with. Taking a step back, having a neutral base to start with may be easier for someone who prefers neutrals. Because pastels are the paler version of the color, it makes it really easy to style with a neutral palette.
STYLE PASTELS WITH PRINTS
Adding prints is always a good idea especially if you want to take your pastel look up a notch. When adding a print to your look, I would stick to a neutral print – think leopard, snake, etc. Or do with prints that match the pastels you’re styling.
LAYERING WITH OTHER PASTELS
If those previous tips don’t resonate, another great way is to color block with other pastels. I love color blocking pastels because, in my opinion, all the pastels look good together. Making it very easy to try this type of styling.
