#CURRENTLYCANCAN VOL 29

I don’t know about you but March felt like a whole year to me. Every time I looked at the calendar, there would still be at least 3 more weeks until the end of the month. 🥴 Anyways, I have dubbed March the month of firsts because there were a couple of things that happened that I experienced for the first time in my life. I was just taken aback by why a lot of my first experiences had to all happen in this month. So, let’s get into it.

01. COVID?

It’s junior year of the pandemic and I got covid. I feel like a late bloomer for an experience that I never wanted to live. 🥴 After all my due diligence, I still got covid. While it was only a mild case, I’m grateful that I was feeling better a few days later. I didn’t have a lot of the symptoms that everyone who experienced covid years ago had – no excessive tiredness, no loss of taste or smell. I will say I had the best sleep that week because I didn’t have anywhere to go, including the gym and pilates. All my injuries that I was nursing were better by the end of the week. It’s almost like my body was telling me that I needed to rest.

02. ANOTHER FIRST

I was in my first accident ever. No, I still don’t have a car. Yes, it was in a rideshare. I was on my way to the doctor my driver ran into the car in front of him. Luckily, the car in front of him was stopped so there was minimal damage. However, I was a little shaken up about it since I’d never been in an accident before. I’m so grateful that it was a minor accident with just soreness from me. I still when to the hospital to ensure that I had no broken bones.

03. WEDDING SHENANIGANS

I’ve been prepping for this wedding for a while because I was a bridesmaid with four different looks and needed to purchase makeup. The time finally came, and it started with delayed luggage. Again, another first for me. From all the traveling I used to do in my previous job, lost luggage never happened. Thank goodness I had the forethought to pack a carry-on – something I never do – with the dresses and the makeup. The most important items I needed for the wedding. Luckily for me, American Airlines had my luggage delivered to the hotel later that day!

Thursday evening, our first evening in the hotel, there was a wind storm with strong winds that knocked the power out for the entire county. Because the hotel only had one generator, we were powerless for the rest of the night and all day Friday. Needless to say, there was a lot of getting ready in the dark with lamps and cellphone flashlights, cold showers, and night sweats. The lights finally came on Saturday morning at 3am which had everyone rejoicing for warm showers and better lighting to get ready. However, that short lasted since the lights went out again until after the white wedding ceremony. The lights came on again when it was time to change for the Hindu ceremony and, thank God, stayed on until it was time to leave.

04. MARCH FAVORITES

My old garment bag ripped and I knew I’d need one for the wedding. Who knew it would be so handy for a carry-on? I bought this garment bag and I love how there’s a space for the hangers that you can lock in place, so it doesn’t wiggle around in the bag.

I was at Target (of course) picking up last-minute items for the trip and found myself in the home decor section. Le sigh. I stumbled on this Threshold candle and I immediately purchased more. It’s a pretty neutral scent that doesn’t activate my migraines which is always a win.

Because of all the makeup, I had to purchase and bring along for the trip, I had to buy a makeup bag. I found this one on Amazon that many people raved about. It was the perfect size to bring along my entire makeup collection – which clearly isn’t a lot.
