As you might know, I love wearing headwraps. Sometimes, though, I want to wear a solid color headwrap but forget that I don’t have any solid color headwraps. Weird. I know. When I want to wear a plain color to match whatever’s happening with my outfit these days, I quickly reach for a t-shirt. Because not many people know how to tie a t-shirt headwrap, I decided to share this quick and easy way to extend your headwrap collection.

The best part of this tutorial is it’s free99. You should be able to take a couple of steps from your bed to your closet and find a plethora of options to do this tutorial. Because most of my headwraps are patterns and colorful, I tend to stick to solid colored shirts to get the look I want (i.e., black, white, grey). I also stick to old, cotton shirts that I reserve for at home wear rather than the ones that I wear when I’m leaving the house.
TIPS
Always wear a silk wrap underneath your t-shirt headwrap. Cotton isn’t the best material for your hair. Anytime I tie a t-shirt headwrap, I always wear my nighttime headwrap that protects my hair. No need to encourage breakage for a quick style. In regards to the shirt, while I have used short sleeve shirts to tie the headwrap, I much rather prefer long-sleeve shirts because it gives you more room to work with when you’re tying your headwrap.
Some of my older shirts have the tags on them instead of the ones that are printed on the shirt. For the tags that I haven’t cut out yet, When tying the shirt, I like to use the bottom of the shirt as the base or where I start the tie with. I have used the top of the shirt opening to tie a headwrap but depending on the size and the style you’re trying to do, it might prove to be a little more difficult.
