Hey, y’all! As you know, I’ve been complaining about my hair for a while now and I finally did a style that I don’t have to do for like a week. This style was inspired by the popularity of top knots. I’ve been wanting to put my hair in a top knot but I haven’t been sure if I’ve been doing it right.
This top knot is great because it’s a protective style. The flat twists in the back and the two-strand twists in the front make it easy to get up and go in the morning without trying to figure what you’re going to do with your hair. The great thing about the two-strand twists in the front is you can unravel the twist for a great bang look. Or you can keep the twists in for a cute style too. I love a style that gives me two options to wear it.
PRODUCTS
To complete this style, you’ll need several items:
- Wide-tooth comb (for detangling)
- Rattail comb (for parting)
- Brush
- Twisting product (I used my whipped shea butter)
- Gel
- Bobby pins
- Marley hair (I got mine from my local beauty supply store)
- 12” Pre-looped twists (I got mine from my local beauty supply store)
- Mirror
If your hair is long enough to achieve the top knot without extra hair, no need for the Marley hair or the pre-looped twists. I use the Marley hair for length and the pre-looped twists to give my hair the fullness it needs to achieve a top knot.
