#CURRENTLYCANCAN VOL 8

Hey, y’all! This month has literally flown by! I know we’ve all been saying it since the start of the pandemic, but every month that we’re in the house, the months just continues to fly by. It’s probably because all the days are running together and we’re just tired of the uncertainty. While I haven’t gone too many places this past month, hell the last 6 months tbh, doesn’t mean the shenanigans have stopped.

DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?

The grand jury in Louisville decided not to convict the murders that killed Breonna Taylor. Instead, they chose to charge one out of the three officers for wanton endangerment. Which in laymen terms mean, the jury decided the walls of the apartment next to Breonna Taylor were more valuable than Breonna’s own body. Let that sink in for a moment. The. NEIGHBORS. WHITE. NEIGHBORS. Walls. Were. More. Sacred. Than. A. Black. Woman’s. Life. Do you understand why we’re angry?! Why we burn stuff?! Why we’re terrified?!

All we want is equality, and the right to sleep in our homes, go for a run, play in a park, go to Walmart, go to church, babysit our nephew and the list goes on. Even though, Black people have every right to burn everything to the ground because we built this country, for. free. We still choose to believe in a better America. We march in hopes to one day experience the same freedoms as white Americans. All we want is to live. LIVE. That’s it. I’m exhausted. I’m scared. I don’t know where to go from here. Where do we go? Who can give us justice? Who will save us? All valid questions. No real answers. When I’ve allowed myself to express and feel all my feelings, I pray. I pray for strength to keeping fighting. Then, my hope is restored. Because I am reminded my fight is for the future generations. I fight so they will not have to go through this anymore. I fight because I know we will win.

it is our duty to fight for our freedom.⁣

it is our duty to win. ⁣

we must love each other and support each other. ⁣⁣

we have nothing to lose but our chains. ⁣

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The last thing I want to say has to do with the shenanigans going on with this administration. Please vote. That’s it. That’s the announcement! Lol. I know we’re in the middle of a pandemic that doesn’t want to go away and voting is a little different this year. But that shouldn’t stop you from voting! If you are happy with the way this administration has handled everything, vote. If you’re not happy with this administration, vote. Also, vote because you have the power to change who the judges, prosecutors, sheriffs, city council, school board members, etc. are in your area. Vote because, at the end of the day, you don’t get to complain about a n y t h i n g if you don’t flex your voting muscle. And that’s that on that!
