#CURRENTLYCANCAN VOL 25

October has been interesting, from a freeze warning one day to 70-80 degree temperatures a few days later. I’m not complaining about the warm temperatures, but it’s just a little alarming that the temperatures would change that drastically in a matter of days (hello, climate change). I told myself that I wouldn’t complain about the weather anymore on this blog, and I’m gonna try my best. Hopefully, this is the last time. 😊

01. BLINK

I attended BLINK – an event in Cincinnati that’s basically the festival of lights but not Christmas-themed and makes art come alive on buildings around the city – for the first time, and it was interesting. First of all, whenever someone asked if I was attending, I would follow up with “what is it?” and no one could clearly articulate what it was until my friend Jasmine eloquently did so. I have to admit that it was not worth the crowds. Maybe that’s because we went on Friday night and didn’t end up heading to the Banks, where, apparently, the show is much more spectacular. I was happy that my group decided to head in early for the night. I was underwhelmed by Blink but enjoyed a girl’s night out.

02. WORK TRIP

For the first time in 5 years, I had a work trip! I forgot how much I miss the hustle and bustle of traveling on the company’s dime. Even though I was only in New York for 24 hours, it satisfied an urge that I didn’t realize I had missed.

03. AIRBNB DRAMA

There’s a second AirBnB opening up on my street, and I hate it. The guests are loud and obnoxious, and I want it to end. I’m not trying to knock anyone’s hustle, but the owners knew this was a quiet street. I like to unwind and relax on the weekends and not have to hear obnoxious bachelorettes yelling. It completely baffles me why anyone would have their bachelorette in Cincinnati, but I digress. The Airbnb that’s already on the street is causing a parking war that I am not participating in (I still don’t have a car). I feel really bad for my neighbors. Because it never fails, every Friday, there are always a few more cars on the street. Just last weekend, a guest decided to park in front of our driveway that my neighbor uses. Who. Does. That. You don’t live here. This is not your house. I would have called the tow truck, but I’m not as nice as my neighbors.

04. 12 YEARS OF BAGGAGE

I unpacked the last box I’d been carrying for 12 years. Yes, you read that right. I’ve had 2 boxes from my senior year of college – and 2 boxes from my move from Cincinnati 5 years ago – that I packed up and have taken with me through every move since then. Don’t ask me why I never even opened those boxes until last weekend. I’ve been asking myself that question the entire time I purged and shredded. I can’t believe UGA was so reckless and had my social security number on all their documents. I’m so happy that those boxes are gone, and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Let’s hope whenever I move from this space, I don’t find another box that I decide to keep unpacked for another 12 years.
