#CURRENTLYCANCAN VOL 40

Honestly, I have no idea where March went. I think it’s because I focused a lot of my time wrapping things up and transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship that the days and weeks started to run together. 😩 My life felt like a whirlwind. It’s amazing how when my house is disorganized, it’s usually because my brain and life feel like chaos. Lucky to have some time this weekend to reset for the new month and a new journey. Because a lot of my time was spent working, there’s not a whole lot to report on nor did I do any shopping. But let’s get into what’s been in my head.

01. ANOTHER ONE

It always amazes me when people invite me to speak. I never feel ‘ready’ or like ‘I’ve made it’ to be able to share the knowledge that I have. But I’m taking big leaps and doing things that scare me this year. So, of course, I said yes when UC invited me to speak on a panel about nonprofit equity. It was such an easy pleasure to speak about the work that I do and impart some of my knowledge to students who are just starting on their journey. Here’s to saying yes to more speaking invitations all year!

02. LAST W2 JOB FOR A WHILE

Yesterday was my last day as a W2 employee. It’s been a bittersweet departure because the last three years at the Urban League have been an adventure ride. I shared my joys of being able to work at a Black organization as a Black woman and I wouldn’t have it any other way that my last W2 job was at a Black organization. It was so special to be able to advocate and work for my community with other people who look like me. I will keep the fond memories of the people and the work that we accomplished in my time. Grateful for such a special opportunity that I almost didn’t go for.
