3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOUR BLOG

Hey, y’all! This post has been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. During my first stint in Ohio, I worked with a photographer every now and then, but for the most part, I took all of my photos. When I moved to the DMV, I decided to take the leap and work consistently with a photographer. And let me tell you, it was the best decision that I’ve made for the blog. Now that I’m back in Ohio, I knew that I had to hire a photographer to work with because I didn’t want to go back to taking my own photos again.

Now, before I get into the many reasons why you should hire a photographer, I have a disclaimer. Hiring a photographer is a financial burden that you need to evaluate if you can afford it. It’s totally okay if you can’t afford a photographer. In fact, it took me a while to truly get to the place where I could afford it. When I couldn’t afford it, I started taking my own photos again until I could afford to hire someone. So, don’t feel obligated to hire one if you’re not in the place to do so.

PROFESSIONAL PICTURES

When I hired Tamara, Jen, and now Dorese, to take my outfit photos for my blog, it definitely elevated the overall look of my blog. Before I went on my hiatus, brands noticed my consistency and my photos and were able to work with a few brands that I love. Also, the photos that I hire a photographer for can be used for various things. I’ve used some of my blog photos for work events, business, and home. Even if you’re not a blogger, I still recommend hiring a photographer once in your life. Whether it’s for new work headshots, a just-for-fun shoot, or an event. A photographer’s work to elevate your everyday photos is amazing. It’s a confidence booster and great memories that you can cherish.

CONSISTENT EDITING OF PHOTOS

Your photos will have the same look and feel because the editing that you and your photographer decide on will be the same for all pictures taken. This can be great if you are looking to unify your theme on your blog and on Instagram. One thing that I disliked when I first started taking my own photos was figuring out how to edit my photos. I literally had to teach myself how to do it. I’m truly grateful that I had to teach myself because I still shoot and edit my own photos for the posts that fall in the lifestyle, natural hair, and beauty categories.

While I am grateful that I got the experience to figure out how to edit my own photos, I’m really glad that I don’t have to edit all my photos myself. Mostly because there are certain things that I still don’t know how to achieve with editing. Also, my photographers are really good at taking photos. I don’t want to mess up their work with ridiculous or wrong editing. So, I leave the style photos to them to edit.

EASE OF SHOOT DAY

This is my favorite part, not having to deal with the headache of the extra stuff that comes with taking your own photos (i.e., taking the photos, editing the photos, crying that the photos didn’t come out right…oh wait, that’s just me😅😬🥴). You literally just focus on the content or looks that you want to shoot. Just having to show up for the day of the shoot is so freeing.
