HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR FAVE BLOGGER: SHOP LIKE ME

Sometimes, I take for granted that some of my blogging jargon doesn’t always translate well with everyone who follows me. So, this year, my goal is to make it easy for everyone who follows me to understand what I’m talking about. Today, I’m talking about how to support your fave blogger through affiliate links.

This post contains affiliate links (read my disclaimer). Thanks for helping me adult!

WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT YOUR FAVE BLOGGER

I’ve shared throughout the years that blogging isn’t as easy as it looks. You only get to see the final product but not always the many hats I have to wear to get a great finished product. Because it’s just me most days and my photographer – when it’s time for photos – it can be expensive, time-consuming, and, at times, overwhelming. This is why you should support your fave blogger by sharing their content and clicking their affiliate links. Supporting them financially through donations, subscriptions, or purchases of their products can contribute to their livelihood, enabling them to continue producing valuable content. Now that I’m working for myself full-time.

WHAT IS AN AFFILIATE LINK?

An affiliate link is a link that takes you to a specific website that includes a unique code. Whenever you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase or perform a specific action (like signing up for a service), I earn a commission or referral fee. The only cost to you is the amount you spend on the purchase. The retailer takes a portion of that cost and shares it with me. The more you click on the links I share, the more money I can make to continue running this blog. It also increases my engagement, which makes me more appealing to brands who want to work with me.

HOW TO SHOP LIKE ME

LINKS

One of the simplest ways to support me is by clicking on the links that I include in every post that I write. I make sure to highlight them in bold and bright orange to make them stand out in the sea of black text. This way, you can easily find them click through, and make a purchase that resonates with you. Don’t be alarmed when you click the link and it opens in another window. I add a setting to all my links so you can always have my blog open to return to if you want to come back and finish reading.

WIDGETS

Widgets are another way to support your fave blogger. You can see below that it’s basically an image of the products that I’m linking or referring to. Widgets are for my visual friends who want to see what I’m linking to. I usually try to link them at least twice, at the top and bottom, of each post. This way you have multiple opportunities to purchase something.

Typically, the widget only shows the first 4 products on the widget. You’ll have to hit the arrow to continue scrolling to see the rest of the items I link. If you see an image of a product that you like, just click on it. This will take you directly to the product page where you can find more details and make a purchase.

BUTTONS/ARROWS

Buttons and arrows are the last way you can purchase on my website. These are designed to be more explicit and straightforward because they usually say ‘show here/now’, encouraging you to make the purchase (see the examples below). Like all the other methods, when you click on a button or arrow, you will be directed to the product details and price, along with the option to proceed with checkout.
