Hey, y’all! This ruffle blush skirt is another find from JCPenny. I love that store so much because I typically find great pieces that I can add to my closet. This ruffle blush skirt is no different! I had to get my hands on this skirt because it’s blush (of course) and it has ruffles! Two of my favorite combinations.

I went to the screening of a documentary yesterday about DC called What Happened 2 Chocolate City? It was a really riveting story about the changing face of DC and things that have contributed to it (i.e., gentrification). If you didn’t know, DC has always been referred to as Chocolate City because of the large and thriving black community in the city. However, in recent years, it’s hard to find black people in the areas that they were prominent in because of “revitalization” to attract more people to the city. This, in turn, pushed a lot of black residents out of the city because they can no longer afford the rent in DC.
It was a great movie because I learned a lot of new information about DC that I didn’t know and it tapped into the stories of black DC residents. It focused on their stories and how this new wave of gentrification is hurting the black community in a way that could have, unforeseen, negative consequences for years to come.
This film revitalized my passion for the reasons that I continue to fight for my community and why I am back in school. It was the needed bright spot in this very dark week with everything that’s been happening the news with families being ripped apart trying to find a better life for their kids.
With all the despair and anger that this administration has invoked, I pray that your weekend is filled with lots of love and moments of joy to revitalize you for the upcoming week.
