I feel like I say this every month but how did we speed through September so quickly?! How is October next week? Where did this year go? I had a lot of work items to get done this month so I don’t have a lot to share for September. But I am excited for cooler temperatures and all the fall activities.

01. THERAPY PROGRESS
I had an epiphany this month that I have made a tremendous amount of progress in therapy. Without getting into the details of the situation, or the trauma that has made me this way, I’ve always had issues with being vulnerable — with family, close friends, anyone. You can imagine that this inability to be vulnerable has hindered many relationships, both platonic and romantic. I was sharing with a friend and it hit me at that moment that I was not only being vulnerable but also felt so comfortable sharing something that I would have kept to myself until I couldn’t hide my struggle anymore.
This may not seem like a big deal to you but this is a huge win for me. I’ve always envied people that felt so comfortable being vulnerable with the people they care about. Learning to be vulnerable is so hard but being able to so makes me feel so human. I can’t say that this is an ability that will ever come naturally to me but I’m happy to see that it’s possible for me to do this.
02. WHITE SUPREMACY CAN REALLY KICK ROCKS
Because it’s the real reason why folks have justified the treatment of Haitian refugees and the lack of care about missing Black and Brown people. Structural racism has been perpetuated by white supremacy since Christopher Columbus got lost, the pilgrims settled stole land from Indigenous People, and stole Africans from their native land to work for free to build this nation. If you’re tired of hearing me talking about this, imagine how tired we are from experiencing these acts of violence to our existence.
03. THE INTERNET IS STILL UNDEFEATED
I started this section in the last post and I’ve been looking forward to sharing some of the items that I’ve stumbled across this month.
- Blues Clues came out when I was still in elementary school and I was obsessed. Steve from the show came out and did a closure video and I teared up! It was the closure that I didn’t know that I needed. Bravo sir. And thank you. 🥲
- God got jokes! Literally. 😂🤣😭💀
- Can we let Chuck E. Cheese retire already?! 😂😂😂😂
