MY CURRENT MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

I’m trying to keep this updated as much as possible with the current lineup of my morning skincare routine. This is the most current morning skincare routine (August 2023). As you may know, I’m still a novice in the skincare game (6 years since I started on this journey). I’ve decided to share what my morning skincare routine looks like. While developing my skincare routine, I’ve found quite a few staple products that I’ve happily incorporated into both my morning and evening routine. By staple products, I mean no matter what other brands/products I try in that category, I will always be able to count on these products to treat my skin well. Without further ado, here is my morning skincare routine:

The first thing that I do in my morning skincare routine is cleanse my face. Even when I wash my face the night before, it’s still important to cleanse. Typically, I workout in the mornings and I come back all sweaty so a cleanse is an absolute must for me. The cleanser I use in the morning is Good Molecules Rosewater Daily Cleansing Gel. It’s gentle enough that my face doesn’t feel super stripped after cleansing.

Toning is the next step in my morning skincare routine after cleansing. I use Thayers Witch Hazel – another staple product for me. Toning is great for your skin because it removes any traces of dirt and replenishes along with nourishing your skin after cleansing. I exfoliate my skin every other day and use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. It’s super gentle and makes my skin feel amazing.

Hyaluronic acid must be applied on a wet face because it becomes very hydrated. It actually has the opposite effect when you apply it on dry skin- it makes your skin more dehydrated. So, I always mist my face before applying this product. I use Mario Badescu Facial Spray (I’ve used all the scents and love them all) and The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. For moisturizer, I use Kiehl’s moisturizer because I have dry skin and it’s just so hydrating for my skin.

I finish my routine with sunscreen. Typically, I alternate between Black Girl Sunscreen and SuperGoop Unscreen Sunscreen. I use Black Girl sunscreen when I’m working from home and SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen when leaving the house – being sure to apply every 2 hours. Because SupoeGoop has a matte finish, I use this to ensure I’m not extra shiny when I leave the house.

I hope that this gives you a better idea of how I incorporate these products within my morning skincare routine. Hopefully, you’ll find a new product that you might try in your routine. If you’re interested, check out my evening skincare routine.
