MY CURRENT EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

As I’ve done with my morning routine, I’m trying to keep this updated as much as possible with the recurrent lineup of my evening skincare routine (March 2024). My evening includes fewer products than my morning routine. This is because I would always skip washing my face at night because that original routine was so long. I simplified it so that I would be consistent and get in the habit of washing my face. My goals with my evening routine are to double cleanse from the day and add retinol to my skin. Double cleansing is something that I’ve always done before I realized that I was doing it. It’s helpful to break down all the dirt, sweat, and other germs that build up on your skin from the day. The ingredients that you incorporate into your evening routine are very important because while you sleep, your skin has a chance to restore and repair overnight.

As I alluded to earlier, I start my evening routine with a double cleanse. I either start with DHC Cleansing Oil or Garnier Micellar Water. If I put make up on my face, I’ll reach for DHC, if not, Micellar water does the trick. I then use a foaming cleaning – Tula Face Cleanser – to make sure that I’m getting all the everything off my face.

Like my morning routine, my second step is always toner. At night, I typically reach for Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Cleanser. A more recent change is the order in which I put on my retinol – The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion. I apply that next and wait 30 minutes before my next step. I started doing this in November, and I really started to notice the difference in my skin. The 30-minute absorption time forces me to wash my face earlier rather than waiting until the last minute and then skipping it altogether.

Hyaluronic acid must be applied on a wet face because it becomes very hydrated. It actually has the opposite effect when applied on dry skin- it dehydrates your skin. So, I always mist my face before applying this product. I use Mario Badescu Facial Spray and instead of The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, I use Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum in the evenings.

After hyaluronic acid, I applied niacinamide – Glossier Super Pure Clarifying Face Serum with Niacinamide + Zinc. This is another fairly new item in my routine. When I was looking for niacinamide to incorporate, I was looking for a formula that contained anywhere between 3 – 5%. I landed on that sweet spot with Glossier. I also added an eye serum – No7 Future Renew Damage Reversal Eye Serum – to help with some of the dark circles under my eyes.

For moisturizer, I use CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. I love this moisturizer because it’s very lightweight but doesn’t skimp on hydration.

Hopefully, you’ll find a new product that you might try in your routine. If you’re interested, check out my morning skincare routine.
