WHY I PREFER WORKING OUT IN THE MORNING & WHY YOU SHOULD TOO

Ever since I could remember, I have always preferred to get a morning workout in. Blame my althetic upbringings where I had morning workouts before school or just being an early riser. Whatever reason you want to blame, there’s nothing like a morning workout to get your blood flowing and your heart pumping. Today, I’m sharing why you should reconsider adding a morning workout to your routine if you’re not the biggest fan.

WHY I LIKE WORKING OUT IN THE MORNING

As I said early, I am an early riser. I have always been this way. The only way to catch me sleeping in, if you call 8am sleeping in, is when I didn’t sleep well the night before and need the extra sleep or if I went to bed really late. For most of my adult life, I’ve made the choice to work out in the mornings because my day starts better when I get my endorphins in early. Also, I do intense workouts and my stomach doesn’t like to be full when I do those workouts. So, it’s easier for me to perform my best when I get a morning workout in rather than in the evenings after I spend the day eating.

BENEFITS OF MORNING WORKOUTS

ENDORPHINS TO START THE DAY

Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands, they just don’t.

Replace husband with people and that’s me exactly. My day is better when I can get my endorphins in early. Also, it makes me a more pleasant human being when I can get any aggression or anxiety out through sweat. Endorphins are chemicals that are released in your brain to help manage your body’s stress and pain. Physical activity triggers the release of endorphins. So, wouldn’t you want your endorphins released early so that you’re better prepared for your day?

IMPROVES YOUR MOOD

On days when I wake up extra groggy, a morning workout out helps boost my mood. It honestly never fails. Whenever I don’t feel like going to the gym, I feel a sense of accomplishment by the time I leave, but my mood is much better. It really helps me move through the day better than if I skipped the gym that morning.

ESTABLISHES A ROUTINE & GET BETTER SLEEP

Knowing that I’ll be doing some workout every morning helps me establish a routine and ensure I’m getting enough sleep. Because I wake up so early to work out, I need a full night of sleep. My body pushes me to go to sleep to get the eight hours I need to get that energy for the next day. So, it helps me establish an evening routine that gets me to sleep with enough time to get the sleep I need.
