WHY YOU SHOULD WEAR AFRICAN PRINT TO A WEDDING
NO ONE ELSE WILL BE WEARING YOUR DRESS
I love wearing African prints to weddings because you can almost guarantee that no one else will wear your dress – unless of course, you’re going to an African-attired wedding then you might find a twin. In my opinion, the types of wedding wear I see in stores and at weddings all look the same. With African print, it will be a unique silhouette, print, and style that likely no one else will wear.
GUARANTEED CONVERSATION STARTER
As someone who rarely has a plus one at weddings, I sometimes find myself at a time with folks I don’t know well making conversation starters difficult. I can’t tell you how often the dress I wear has been a great introductory convo. This makes it easier to endure awkward table conversations.
UNIQUE FOR YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
The thing I love about African print is the different types of prints and patterns that are available. Even if you find someone that’s a twin with the fabric, the style or cut will likely not be the same. Because of this, that means there’s literally a style for everyone.
AFRICAN PRINT DRESSES TO WEAR DURING WEDDING SEASON
XZENDA LINA DRESS
I discovered Xzenda last year when I did 30 Days of African Print. What captured me was the unique cut and stylings of the formal dresses available. My heart did palpitations when I saw how beautiful the Lina dress is. It would be perfect for more semi-formal or cocktail attire wedding. I’ve actually this dress to a wedding and it was a big hit.
OFUURE FAWA DRESS
Ofuure is one of my favorite brands to purchase African prints. They have a huge assortment of dresses that would be great for any dress code of wedding. I love the length and mock neck of the Fawa dress. This dress would be perfect for a black tie or semi-formal wedding attire.
D’IYANU JIONI DRESS
D’iyanu is another brand that I discovered during 30 Days of African Print. What I love about the brand is that they have a capsule collection every season. Meaning, they focus on a few prints every season to make various items. I was excited to see the Jioni dress in the Orange Blue Adire print. A sucker for anything yellow, I think this dress is perfect for casual, semi-formal, or tropical wedding attire.
MAE OTTI GINA DRESS
Mae Otti is another great brand that I love shopping at. The Gina dress stood out to me because of the bold, design with the classic A-line skirt. This is a dress you can wear to your upcoming casual or tropical wedding.
OFUURE ASHA DRESS
Asha was calling my name as soon as I saw the off the shoulder silhouette. I absolutely love this print and the thigh high slit. Don’t be surprised if you see me in this dress at a wedding I’m attending this year. I think it would work well for a cocktail, semi-formal, or causal wedding.
