I’ve been living in my attic apartment for almost two years now. While design-wise, it’s still a work in progress – I mean, can you ever really be done decorating a space? – I have made some purchases that I can’t believe what I did before I bought them. Most of these items are things I mainly use in the kitchen but honestly, that’s where some of the best gadgets are. Here is my list of apartment purchases that I can’t live without.

NINJA AIR FRYER
I have no idea what I was doing before purchasing an air fryer. I’ve tried just about everything else in this wonderful contraption. Though I haven’t tried frying plantains because I have the feeling that once I do, my ancestors will immediately abandon me.
FOOD HUGGERS
As someone who lives by themselves and constantly finds themselves throwing out fresh items that are spoiled because I haven’t found the best way to store them, food huggers have saved me countless of food items and money.
LAZY SUSAN
Bless whoever created this and I feel sorry that the name Susan has been associated with being lazy. 🥴 Anyways, I use a lazy susan in my pantry and for my beauty products. The ease that I can quickly find the items I’m looking for espeially when I’m getting ready in the mornings.
AVOCADO TOOL
The year 2021 saw me eating a lot more avocados. I’ve always loved avocados, or butterpear as Liberians call it. But 2021 was the first time I tried avocado toast and I’m obsessed. Judge all you like but I never really saw the appeal of putting avocado on toast so I justed decided to go out on a limb and try it. I have no idea why I waited so long to do try the most millennial, wonderment. Since I have been eating avocados practically every day, I realized that there had to be a better way to take out the seed without chopping my hands to pieces. Enters the avocado tool. It cuts, depits, and slices your avocado for you.
FUNNELS
This is something that I always thought I had but remember that I didn’t. This collapsable funnel set was a random Amazon find. I use them almost everyday and honestly don’t understand why it took me so long to get funnels.
SMART PLUGS
I purchased the Echo Dot on a whim when it was on sale in 2021. I’m still unsure if it was a good purchase because I want to fight Alexa everyday cause she don’t listen. But, I found myself buying smart plugs to make me even more dependent on technology. They have come in clutch when I’ve left my house and forget to turn the lights on or off.
ELECTRIC LIGHTER
I always forget to buy matches! Whenever I’m ready to light my candles, I remember that I don’t have matches. This is a neverending cycle that I unknowingly signed up for. Until I discovered an electric lighter. Best. Invention. Ever. Now the only thing I have to worry about is remembering to charge it.
