Hey, y’all! New hair, who dis? Lol. Y’all can’t tell me nothing with these 20-inch faux goddess locs! I did a tutorial if you want to replicate this style.

Oh, H&M. We were rooting for you! I had to quickly change the content of this post because I was raving about H&M and this beautiful navy midi skirt that I bought. Then they go and mess up and now I gotta read them! Without going into too much detail, H&M had a black boy in a hoodie labeled “coolest monkey in the jungle.” If you just woke up, comparing black people to monkeys has always had a negative association. So, to see this still occurring in 2018 is somewhat surprising but not that surprising. Especially since we have a person in charge who continuously spews hate. It is also clear that a lot of big companies do not have people of color in the spaces needed to ensure that advertising like this does not happen.

I honestly am sick and tired of being sick and tired. When are they going to learn that people of color, specifically black people, have significant buying power — $1.3 trillion to be exact — and when you continue to exclude the population with the largest buying power, you’re going to feel the effects!?! This is why I am very intentional about who and where I buy from. I have increased the number of black businesses I support because the message is clear that mainstream media does not care about us. I know some of y’all will think this opinion is extreme but time and time and time again, we are having the same argument about wanting big businesses to see us! And time and time and time again, they continue to make decisions like this and pretend that they didn’t know.

I state all of this to say that I will no longer buy from H&M. I will not continue to support a business that does not support me. Apologies or not. I will spend my dollars in places that will value my dollar.

I hope y’all are out there staying warm. Enjoy your weekend!

As always, thanks for stopping by!
