MY MORNING ROUTINE

A few weeks ago, I shared why I started waking up at 5am. To use my time wisely, I have to have a structured routine to ensure that I have enough time to get everything done. This has been my morning routine since November 2021, so my body has fully adjusted to the new routine. I will say that when we lost that hour for Daylight Savings, it was a tough week to get up. But I’ve adjusted and like that the sun is peeking through by 6am. Today, I’m sharing what my weekday morning routine typically looks like.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

5:00AM ALARM GOES OFF

No snooze button for me! I rarely have trouble waking up once the alarm goes off. So, I hop out of bed to brush my teeth and put workout clothes on. I put on my workout clothes to save time and put myself in the mindset to work and not want to get back into bed.

5:10AM DEVOTION

I move from the bedroom to my desk in the living room to start my day. I always start with my devotion, prayer, and writing in my gratitude journal to start the day. I find that giving God thanks always puts me in an excellent mood for the day.

5:45AM CLIENT WORK

The entire reason I started waking up early was to give myself a better work-life balance. I spend the next 45 minutes doing work that I have to do for clients. Even though this seems like such a short time, I always surprise myself with how much work I can get done during this time. It’s because I’m hyper-focused and have no distractions.

6:30AM WORKOUT

Alexa alerts me with a second alarm that it’s time to work out. I had to set this alarm because there were many occasions that I was so focused that I would look up, and it’s 7am, and I’m rushing to do some workout by 7:30. I have a different routine for different days.

I go for a run only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each month I’ve been increasing my mileage so depending on the month depends on how long I run. I’m at 2.5 miles and usually get back by 7:15. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I do a 30-minute workout with weights, do a mile sprint, and usually get back by 7:30. These are all to help build my endurance and improve my time.

7:30AM COOL DOWN & ANSWER EMAILS

The one thing that I absolutely hate is taking a shower and getting out and still being sweaty. 😩 To avoid this, I have to cool down before showering. So, I use this time to finish up any last items that I need to do for my clients before the day starts and answer any emails I flagged. Depending on how much extra time I have, I might check social media but that’s becoming less common.

7:45AM SHOWER & GET READY FOR THE FULL TIME

I am fully cooled down and ready to hit the shower and get ready to start my full time. If I have to go into the office, I try to get into the shower a little earlier to ensure I get to the office on time.

8:15AM MAKE PROTEIN SHAKE & BREAKFAST

I’m usually dressed and ready to eat by now so I quickly make a protein shake using prepared packs that I make with fruits and vegetables and this protein powder that has absolutely no taste! While the shake is going, I either make breakfast or warm up the prepped breakfast to eat and prepare for the day. If I have to go into the office, I take my shake and breakfast to eat in the office.

8:30AM-12PM WORK

I do my best work in the mornings, so I try to schedule any meetings in the afternoon. That way, I can focus and get items off my to-do list complete. I know that I can’t always control this, but I do my best to use the entire morning to get as much work done as possible.

10:30AM MID-MORNING SNACK & WATER PLANTS

Sometime before lunch, I get hungry again. So, I take a mid-morning break to pull out my pre-prepped healthy snacks and take the time time to water my fiftyleven plants. If I have to go into the office, I’m usually back home by this time.
