2022 TOP PURCHASES

Like many of you, I make many purchases throughout the year. Some items are good, some pointless 🥴, but there are always a few that I thoroughly enjoy and rave about to everyone. But the raving often doesn’t always happen on the blog. While this last post was something similar, it focused on my purchases from the last two years rather than my top purchases for the year. I decided to share 2022 top purchases that I absolutely love and will hopefully continue the tradition next year.

AIRPOD PRO COVERS

I got my AirPods Pro last year when I bought my new laptop. I wanted to buy some but was hesitant to get them because of the price, and didn’t know if they would work with my small ears. Because I bought my laptop when Apple was doing its yearly back-to-school special, I was okay with spending $90 versus the $250. If they didn’t work, I wouldn’t be too upset because I didn’t spend more than $90 on them.

Back to my small ears. All my life, I had to fight. JK, but I haven’t had the best of luck with headphones. They never stay in my ears. Even the old Apple corded headphones never really worked with my ear. These days, I’m all about wireless headphones. But the only wireless buds that work for me are the ones that wrap around my ear (it’s why the Beats PowerBeats Pro are my favorite) or over-ear headphones (my second favorite Bose). So, I was not that surprised when I got my Airpods, and they kept falling out of my ears. I was planning to give them away until I found & purchased these ear hooks on Amazon. After a year of contemplating whether I should get rid of my AirPods, I can finally wear them without worrying about them constantly falling out. What a relief.

UPLIFT DESK

I have wanted a standing desk since I moved back to Cincinnati. Since I’m still working from home and my business requires more hours, I knew that sitting all day would not be okay. I purchased the Uplift Desk, a fully customizable desk, in the middle of the year when they had a deal going on that allowed me to get additional parts/upgrades for free. Since getting this desk, it’s been a lifesaver. Also, when I injured my lumbar disc, and my doctor told me that I should be standing more than sitting, I knew I had made the right decision to purchase this desk. I have a full review of my Uplift Desk here if you want more details on the specifications and my overall thoughts.

FITNESS MEMBERSHIPS

I transparently and recently shared my frustrations with my fitness journey over the last two years. I ended that post more optimistically because I could see changes in how my clothes fit. This is all thanks to Planet Fitness and Studio S, my pilates classes. I may never get to my pre-Covid weight, but I do feel better.

GUARD DOG SECURITY DOOR JAMMER

My building is small, so I know all of my neighbors. But because they feel it’s a safe enough neighborhood, they are not always the best at locking the main door. I saw this product on TikTok and knew it would be an excellent investment in this building. I go to bed early because of my early wakeup time, and now I sleep better knowing I have extra security at home.

EUFY DOORBELL CAMERA

I have missed many important packages I would have to go and pick up from UPS or FedEx. I decided that enough was enough and purchased the Eufy Doorbell camera. The appeal of this camera is it’s battery-operated and does not need to be connected to your doorbell. This is perfect for renters who do not have access to a doorbell system.

PROTEIN POWDER

I have never been a fan of protein powder because I hate the way it tastes. The ones I’ve tried in the past have this weird chalky taste that overwhelms anything that I add it to. I gave up trying to find a good protein powder years ago until Hayet shared – the one she uses – Isopure, was genuinely flavorless. I found a small packet on Amazon and tried my luck, hoping that the unflavored was actually flavorless. To my joy and surprise, it was!

SMART PLUGS

It’s official. I’ve become the person I said I’d never be – something that depends on technology for every single thing. Ever since I watched Revolution, I have been more intentional about how much I rely on technology. But there’s something about having the ability to schedule when your electronics turn on and off. Currently, I have 7 smart plugs in my apartment, and I honestly want more.

I have no idea what I was doing before I purchased smart plugs, but I can’t see myself without them. If you have Amazon Alexa devices, the Amazon plug is the best. I’ve tried other plugs, but they don’t connect as well as the Amazon smart plug. They are typically $24.99, but if you catch Amazon on a sale – think Cyber Week, Prime Day – you can catch them for half off, which is how I’ve been able to stock up.

REUSABLE COTTON PADS

I have spent a lot of money using disposable cotton pads over the years. On top of that, I would forget that I ran out and be stuck using paper towels to distribute some of my face products. Lucky for me, I was at my wit’s ends and tired of seeing my money in the trash every time I used a disposable cotton pad. I discovered these reusable and washable cotton pads – Green Estate and Syntus. I love that this is another way I’m being sustainable and have a bunch of cotton pads that will never run out.

I use the white, bamboo cotton rounds for my toners and the black and white rounds for removing makeup. Both brands come with bags you put the rounds in and throw in the wash. I don’t put them in the dryer; I lay them out to dry. My wallet thanked me for stopping buying massive amounts of cotton pads.
