MY WASH ROUTINE: SHAMPOO

Hey, y’all! Today, we’ll be diving into my shampoo routine. Check out my co-wash routine, if you missed it.

I shampoo my hair once a month to ensure that it gets cleaned and get rid of the product build-up that can occur with just co-washing. I just can’t go without shampooing my hair because I want to make sure it gets clean. To me, not shampooing your hair is like getting in the shower but not using soap #wheredeydodatat

My shampoo routine is similar to my co-wash routine except I add my deep conditioning. So here we go.

PRE-POO

I always start with pre-poo before I do my wash day. So my pre-poo consists of first, spraying the mix of apple cider vinegar with water (recipe can be found here: Nappy Headed Jojoba) to finger detangle my hair. Secondly, I add coconut oil to further help with detangling and stretching. I put my hair in two-strand twists and put on a shower cap (or plastic bag) for about 15 minutes.

SHAMPOO

I jump in the shower and rinse the pre-poo out of my hair first then I apply shampoo. My love for Organix continues because I also use an Organix shampoo. I have tried a lot of the different hair products under Organix and they all work wonders. My current favorite is the Hydrating TeaTree Mint (or the green bottle because of that how I distinguish between the bottles).

Once I’ve rinsed the shampoo out of my hair, I add the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner for a couple of minutes and rinse out before I get out of the shower.

DEEP CONDITIONER

I use a t-shirt to dry my hair quickly then I add my deep conditioning with is the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Intensive Strengthening Masque. To be honest, I’ve only ever used SheaMoisture products for my deep conditioners. They treat me so good so why change?

I thoroughly apply the product to my hair, put them in twists and add a shower cap/plastic bag. I usually leave this in my hair for 30 minutes, 45 minutes tops (usually because I lose track of time because: Netflix).

L.O.C. METHOD

I rinse my hair out, in the tub, with cool to lukewarm water. I then dry with a t-shirt and follow the L.O.C. method: Karen Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In Conditioner, olive oil, and whipped shea butter.

I add about 4 twists in each section (16 twists total) of my hair. I usually let the twists dry overnight because: tender-headed. If I plan to style it, I reserve it for the next day.

That’s my shampoo routine! What products do you use on your shampoo day?

As always, thanks for stopping by!
