MY 5 FAVE RED LIP

While a red lip hasn’t always been the first thing I reached for, I can’t stop wearing them. Ever since I discovered the greatness of Ruby Woo in 2015, I can’t imagine my life without wearing a red lip. There’s something about a red lip that makes you feel bold and ready to conquer the world. I’ve been on a quest since to discover all the red liquid matte lipsticks that look great on my complex. While I have tried many different brands, I have settled on these 5. They may all look the same in the bottle, but once I put them on, they are all a little different. If you see me outside with a red lip on, chances are, it’s one of these 5. So, I’m sharing my 5 favorite liquid matte lipsticks.

MY 5 FAVE READ LIP

THE LIP BAR – BAWSE LADY

My top favorite red is by The Lip Bar. It’s called Bawse Lady. And let me tell you, I truly feel like a bawse whenever I wear it! I get the most compliments whenever I wear this brand (I also have, and love, Boy Trouble, Drama Queen, and Prima Donna). I also have yet to find another red that matches this color. Bawse Lady looks great on all complexions. The best thing about this line is it’s Black-owned and it’s at Target.

Another thing I love about this brand is that the matte formula is not drying at all. Y’all know I love a good matte lip, so being able to wear a matte lip for a long time without my lips feeling dry is super important to me. So, go ahead and buy a couple of colors, including Bawse Lady, from The Lip Bar. You’ll thank me later!

MORPHE – BLOODSHOT

My next favorite color is a purchase I randomly made in 2018 and haven’t regretted it since. It’s called Bloodshot and it’s a burgundy red that I can’t stop wearing it. The staying power of this color is so good that it literally takes me my cleansing oil and Garnier Micellar Water. Needless to say, it lasts through many cups of water, tea, wine, etc. Unfortunately for all of us, this is currently sold out everywhere. Luckily, when I reuped in December, I bought three. But if you want a similar color, Spehora’s Red Wine is close.

BEAUTY BAKERIE – MON CHERI

I’ve been using Beauty Bakerie’s Mon Cheri for almost two years now, and it’s just as scrumptious as I first discovered it. This is another Black-owned brand that, I think, is perfect on all skin tones. It’s another blue-red lip, I hope you’re sensing a theme of the types of red that look good on me. What I especially love about this look is that it doesn’t come off when I eat or drink. Which is important since I’m always eating or drinking something.

STILA – BESO

Sttiillaa (*said in Rocky yelling Adrian*)!! This is the lip color that everyone was raving about, when I discovered it in 2018 Beso. Admittedly, I wasn’t sold on this color when I first bought it and put it on. That’s because I was impatient and didn’t wait for it to dry to see the true beauty. I have seen the error of my ways and I can’t stop wearing this. It’s a true red but the applicator is the second star of the show. I love that it’s pliable, making it easy to adjust how you apply it to your lips.

MAC LOCKED KISS INK – RUBY TRUE

This is a newer find for me. I missed the liquid matte version release that Mac did last year of Ruby Woo. But this is a great alternative. Ruby True is blue-red, similar to Ruby Woo. However, this shade comes out a little brighter on me than Ruby Woo. I honestly love the light color of the red because it’s different from the other reds that I own.
