Hey y’all!

Can we all just take a minute and give a standing ovation to Target?! Target has always had a special place in my heart but their clothes??! They have never disappointed! The top and pants are both from Target! I’m a little biased, but don’t take my word for it: Go check out the greatness of Target for yourself!

I was just thinking about it the other day and realized that I have been wearing a lot more black lately. I don’t know where the sudden need to wear black arises from but I really just like the ease and sophistication that an all-black look can evoke. While I may be wearing more black, I will forever be a girl who loves color! If you are not sure how to pull off an all-black look, follow the guidelines below:

Texture

Sometimes it’s hard to find the right way to wear all black. For me, adding texture creates a more interesting look. Texture adds depth and dimension so I love incorporating some form of texture in a monochrome look. Here, I added lace but you could incorporate another form of texture (e.g., faux fur, leather, or sequins) to enhance your look.

Pop of Color

I am forever a color girl and I can’t wear all black without incorporating a pop of color. With this outfit, the pop of color is on my lips and my headwrap. There are many ways that you can incorporate a pop of color: through your bag, your shoes, a coat, and/or even a necklace.

Play Up the Slimming Effect

The reason wearing all black is such a staple is because it has a slimming effect. It provides the illusion that things appear smaller than they are. To play up this effect, you have to make sure that the piece fits and is flattering. Here, I wore a high-waisted pants to make my legs look longer and to cinch in the waist. If your clothes need to be tailored, definitely do that!

I always incorporate these three guidelines every time I wear black. What do you think about wearing all black?

As always, thanks for stopping by!
